daenerysdragonblood asked: My writing is very to the point. I still describe things and paint a picture but I don't ramble about it. I feel that it gives the reader a bit more reign with how they picture things. However, as comfortable as I am with this style other people seem to like pointing out that I should expand my descriptions. People are different I understand that but I want to be a published author after University. Is it going to hold me back?

Tazzy: Everyone has their own style- chances are that the people who like to point out that you should expand your descriptions are people who like lots of detail underpinning anything they read. As you might be aware, I personally love detailed writing (as long as the prose isn’t bogged down with unnecessary stuff), but I don’t see anything wrong with writing that could be considered “to the point”.

That being said, what is “to the point” can be very subjective. If you think that not detailing things enough could hold you back, then go back over what you’ve written and add more. It’s not too difficult! :)

There’s a link here that might help you.

(Sorry for the slow reply- I started answering this and then saved it in the ‘drafts’ section, then totally forgot that I put it there! :/ )
